What’s new in lenses?

1. Lenses are getting thinner and lighter and more comfortable. There are even “ultra-light” thin lenses for previously thick glasses.
2. You can get lenses which turn into sunglasses when you are outdoors golfing or playing tennis.
3. You can get “no-line” progressive bifocal which give you good vision for distance, for the computer, and for reading.
4. There are new magnetic “clip-on” sunglasses over your regular glasses.

What’s new in glasses frames?

We have completely re-stocked the optical department! This year there are new materials—colorful plastics, sturdy and comfortable titanium, affordable Beryllium—in new styles and shapes, which can change your whole look to a bright new you. Come in and try on a few!

How do I chose glasses which look best on me?

Our experienced optical department will help you with frame choices based on your style, face shape and size, and your prescriptions. There are three main things to think about when choosing a frame:

1. The frame shape should contrast with your face shape—a square or boxy frame will make a round face seem less round.
2. The frame size should fit your face—if you have a small face, you will look more elegant and balance with a small frame.
3. The frame should complement your best feature—your perky nose, your high cheekbones.

Did you know you could be allergic to your glasses?

Some people are allergic to the nickel in their metal frames, or the nose pads—mention this, and we can direct you to frames which are hypoallergenic, like titanium, stainless steel, gold, silver, and coatings which can all improve your symptoms.
